Bio

Like hip-hop, I grew up in gritty New York City. I later graduated from Smith College and New York Law School (not my idea), but never practiced law. I worked at The Wall Street Journal as an editor and writer, taught Spanish at The New School, and reviewed bars and boutiques for The New York Times

A second marriage brought happiness, kids and a long stay in Massachusetts farm country. Once we had our fill of blizzards, farmstand produce and fear of Lyme, we hiked it to Portugal for five years of language immersion and plenty of pastéis de nata. Our kids are now in college and I have settled in Paris, where I write short stories and novels, while pitching literary agents in the US and the UK.
